Can you stand to see more?

I FINALLY uploaded the rest of the February pictures from my camera to the computer. Of course, there are lots more snow pictures. I'm just going to post a few cute ones here from the last blizzard....

The snow drift at the front door was almost up to Emma's nose! After this picture was taken, the girls bumped into the snow and, I guess, broke the surface tension, because it all poured into the house! Chris had to get the snow shovel to get it out...

The girls enjoyed their homemade snow cream- made with fresh snow, milk, vanilla, and sugar. Me? I'll stick with Ben & Jerry's.

Jacob loves all activities snow-related. He loved going down the hill on the sled. Here is Chris dragging him back up for another run!

Emma in her very own snow fort (that's what she called it...seemed more like a moat around the snowman to me)!

After a really fast sled ride down the hill, poor Jacob flew off at the bottom and got a nice face plant right in the snow (he didn't like that) and I flew off into a snow bank and got stuck. Chris rescued us both. After that...time for some hot chocolate!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day this morning before Chris left for work. Chris and I got lots of homemade valentines from the girls (our favorite!). I made the girls heart-shaped French toast and served their milk in pink champagne flutes with hearts on them. We've all indulged in more chocolate than one would think possible.

Emma's favorite song came on TV today and we thought we'd share it here since the topic, "love", is appropriate for today...

Giant Snow Storm #3

This past weekend we had our first big snow of 2010, measuring 28 inches in our yard. Then, before Maryland could dig out and school could resume- BAM- a blizzard hits us again Tuesday and Wednesday. I didn't measure the snow after the second storm, suffice it to say- it was a lot! (I heard that Westminster got a total of 50 inches from both storms combined.) I took a quick mini-movie during the storm from our back door. It's still snowing and blowing pretty hard, although it's difficult to tell in the movie because everything is white. I'll post more pictures later!

Giant Snow Storm #2

Wow...the second giant snow of the season (the first of 2010) happened this past weekend, February 5-6. Yikes! Snow totals were up to 3 feet in Maryland. We had a lot of snow drifts so it was difficult to get an accurate measurement but our best guess was about 28 inches in our yard.

It wasn't as much fun to play in at first as the girls could barely walk and could definitely not sled in it. And, it didn't stick well enough to make a snow family. Snow angels were out as I think we'd actually lose a kid if they laid down. Jacob couldn't have had more fun though. Chris had cleared off the driveway and, before Jacob went out, about 4-5 more inches fell so it was a perfect depth for him to play in.

The next day Chris was able to make a nice packed run in the yard for sledding. The sled went super fast over the "moguls". The biggest problem was walking back up the hill. Emma required considerable help and Jacob needed to be carried. It was fun, but exhausting.

Another Emma Moment

Lately, Emma has taken to sneaking into our bed in the middle of the night. Which wouldn't be so bad if she didn't sleep horizontally with her feet and head in our respective ribs and kidneys. Besides being an "active" sleeper, she also tends to talk in her sleep (the best is when she totally cracks up in her sleep- I'm always dying to know what she's dreaming about).

Anyway, last night, I heard, "Oh no... (then something I couldn't understand)." I said, "What's wrong, Emma?" She responded, completely in her sleep and without missing a beat, "Mom...shhh. I'm talking to my dream."

Giant Snow Storm #1

Boy, I'm sooo behind this winter with the blog. Here's my sorry attempt to do a little catch-up.

Tomorrow we're expecting Giant Snow Storm #2. They say the precipitation should start around 10 am tomorrow (Friday) and end around 10 pm Saturday...17-26 inches. Yikes!

Well, we had another Giant Snow Storm this winter, way back on December 19th. It was fun to be snowed in with the kids. Unfortunately, Chris had to work that weekend and had no easy task of getting to and from work (and up our driveway). The girls didn't have the best time playing in the initial snowfall because it was so deep. But, in the days that followed they had a great time sledding and playing with friends.

Here are a few pictures of Giant Snow Storm #1, as I'm sure I'll get around to posting pics from this new storm sometime in March!
